Miami-Dade officer has purse, badge, gun stolen behind Fontainebleau

A Miami-Dade officer had her purse stolen Sunday morning while watching the sunrise behind the Fontainebleau, Miami Beach police said.

Officer Jacquelyn Coello's purse contained her badge, personal gun and a magazine.

Coello had set her purse on the sand on the beach near 44th Street before an unknown person grabbed it, police said.

A witness told Coello what happened, police said, and although she chased the unknown person, Coello wasn’t able to capture him.

Colleo's personal gun, police badge, Miami-Dade police identification card and a magazine round were inside the purse along with her keys, driver’s license , Social Security card and cellphone.

Police are searching for a man between 25 and 30 years old, about 150 pounds, and between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown hair.
