Woman injured during robbery at gas station in Southwest Ranches

It's a crime that happens with regularity at gas stations in South Florida. Women leave their purses inside their unlocked cars while they pump gas. Thieves park next to their car and quickly take their purse. But an incident on Friday left a woman injured in Southwest Ranches.

Surveillance video shows a woman, police said is 64 years old, run towards the man who smashed her window to take her purse. The man tried to close the door as the driver sped away, but her arm was trapped. The driver didn't stop, so they dragged her across the parking lot.

The woman told police officers that she had $600, personal medical equipment and an iPhone in her purse. Davie Police Department detectives were searching for the men who fled the gas station at 15991 Sheridan St. in a silver Chevrolet Malibu.

Police officers later found her empty purse in the area of Southwest 148 Avenue and Stirling Road. They were asking anyone with information to call the police department at 954-693-8200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
