Surfside burglary suspect bloodied in fall after being stunned with Taser gun

A South Florida burglary suspect was booked into jail with a bloodied face after he ran away from a police officer who was taking him into custody and was stunned with a Taser gun, according to a police report.

Carlos Sierra, 26, faces charges of burglary, escape, criminal mischief and resisting arrest without violence.

Surfside police said Sierra was burglarizing a garage at the Spiaggia condominium building Saturday when officers arrived.

According to an arrest report, Sierra took a pressure washer and three bicycles from the garage. Officers arrived as Sierra was trying to steal another bicycle.

Sierra was handcuffed and being put in the back of a police car when he broke free from an officer and took off, running south on Collins Avenue, the report said.

Police used a Taser gun to subdue Sierra, who they said injured his face in the fall.

Sierra was taken to Aventura Hospital to be treated for his injuries. He was then booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
