Miami-Dade Public Schools officials confirmed Friday morning that a student was shot in North Miami Beach overnight.
A tweet from Superintendent Alberto Carvalho described the victim as a 15-year-old girl who was critically injured. The post also demanded that the so-called code of silence be broken with the hashtag "enough" included at the end of the statement.

North Miami Beach police confirmed on Twitter that a person had been shot near 155th Terrace and Northeast 14th Avenue at about midnight.
"When I wake up, I saw the cops. They block all the three sections here and no car would be able to go through or anything," Kristy Gouveea, who lives in the area, said.
Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital.
About an hour and a half before the teen was wounded, police said a man was injured in a shooting and crash on 19th Avenue and Northeast 171st Street.
Investigators tweeted that they did not believe the two shootings were related.
