Miami-Dade employee runs over beachgoers at Crandon Park

A Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department employee was accused of running over three beachgoers at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne on Friday.

Kevin Gonzalez, 23, was driving a marked Miami-Dade County Ford F-150 on the beach about 5:23 p.m., according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

William Merlett, 16, Aurelien Bouaniche, 19, and Vicky Merlett, 20, were lounging on the sand when Gonzalez ran them over.

Detective Robert Pinkard said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed the two teens to Mercy Hospital and Vicky Merlett was treated at the scene.
