A gunman fatally shot an Ohio police chief and two nursing home employees Friday, and the gunman is also dead, reported The Associated Press.
The slain police chief was identified as Steven Eric Disario of the Kirkersville Police Department, the AP report said.
He was a father of six with a seventh child on the way, and had only been on the job for three weeks, The AP reported.
According to an ABC News report, Disario responded to a call regarding a man with a gun. Backup officers later responded and found Disario outside the Pine Kirk Care Center nursing home.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich released a statement that read: "Ohio mourns the loss of Kirkersville Chief Eric Disario, who died in the line of duty. Join me in praying for his family, friends and colleagues, and for the others injured in this tragedy."
