A Georgia man died Monday morning on a diving trip with his wife in the Florida Keys.
James Ringold, 52, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, was diving near the USS Spiegel Grove wreck site when he was found by other divers about 50 feet underwater with the regulator out of his mouth, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.
Ringold was helped back to the dive boat, where CPR was performed as he was taken back to shore.
Paramedics met the Rainbow Reef Dive Center boat near mile marker 99 and took Ringold to Mariners Hospital.
Ringold was pronounced dead at 11:41 a.m.
A medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
