BSO detectives search for driver in fatal hit-and-run crash

Kinna Collander was walking south across East Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park when a driver ran him over on Friday night, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

BSO detectives were looking for the driver who didn't stop to help Collander after running him over near Northeast Sixth Avenue, BSO spokeswoman Joy Oglesby said in a statement.

After the 8:30 p.m. crash, Oakland Park Fire Rescue took Collander, 28, to Broward Health Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The driver who struck Collander fled west on Commercial Boulevard.

Detectives were looking for a vehicle light in color and damage to its front bumper, hood and windshield.

Oglesby asked anyone with information to call BSO's traffic homicide detectives at 954-321-4845 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
