Woman shot at Tropical Park after argument over parking space

A woman was shot Wednesday night during a fight over a handicapped parking space at Tropical Park, Miami-Dade police said.

According to detectives, Lina Bahamon, 38, and  her husband Michael Levy, 48, were practicing parking in a black Mercedes Benz just before 8:45 p.m., when they were approached by the driver of a white Nissan SUV identified as Rudy Velasquez.

Velasquez, 52,  and Levy began to argue over the Mercedes Benz blocking handicap parking spaces, police said.

The dispute escalated when Levy got out of the car, and at some point pulled a firearm from his belt bag and fired several shots in the direction of the Nissan SUV, officers wrote in a news release.

One of the bullets struck the passenger in the SUV, identified as Cecilia Gonzalez, 63.

Officers said Gonzalez was transported to Kendall Regional Medical Center with a bullet wound to the arm.

According to investigators, everyone involved was questioned and arrests were pending.
