Tanker overturns, spills milk on highway

You know what they say, there's no use crying over spilled milk... especially thousands and thousands of gallons of the white stuff.

A tanker truck carrying 11,000 gallons of milk rolled over Monday morning closing the lanes of highway in eastern Michigan.

According to St. Clair County Sheriff Deputies, the truck's contents spilled over the road at about 9:30 a.m.

Authorities said the driver of a 2004 Nissan SUV ran out of gas and parked his vehicle in the right hand lane of I-94. Two semi-trucks came up on the vehicle. The first one was able to swerve and avoid the SUV. The second, hauling a tanker filled with milk, also swerved, but clipped the rear end of the SUV.

The driver of the tanker, a 34-year-old man from Harbor Beach, lost control of the rig and the tanker broke away from the cab.

The driver of the SUV, a 36-year-old man from Dearborn Heights, was cited for careless driving.
