Pembroke Pines woman arrested after burning child’s chest with hot iron, police say

A 32-year-old Pembroke Pines woman was arrested Monday after police say she burned a 9-year-old boy’s chest with a hot iron after he forgot paperwork at school.

Tamecha Jean was arrested on a charge of aggravated child abuse.

Police got a tip on an abuse hotline at about 4 p.m. Monday pertaining to the 9-year-old.

Pembroke Pines police, along with deputies from the Broward Sheriff's Office, investigated and found that Jean burned the child’s chest with a hot iron because the child forgot paperwork at school, which “infuriated the suspect since she anticipated its return,” police said in a media release.

Members of BSO's child protective investigative section assumed responsibility and care for the child and his two siblings.
