Broward County fire under control; 6,800 acres burned

A brush fire that started Wednesday in western Broward County was deemed to be under control Sunday,  Florida Forest Service spokesman Scott Peterich said.

The fire had burned 6,800 acres, the FFS reports.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles reported that winds and dense smoke this weekend made the fire harder to fight.
