Girl saves little sister from drowning at Coral Springs home

A girl rescued her sister from drowning on Friday night. She was in the pool of their house in Coral Springs when she found her.

The girl alerted adults that Manaal Mohiuddin, her one-year-old sister, had found her way to the pool in the backyard of their Kessington Commons community home.

"it only takes a second, leaving a child unsupervised outside," Coral Springs Police Department Capt. Brad McKeone said.

Coral Springs police officers and firefighters responded to the home near 109th Avenue and Northwest 55th Street.

The girl regained her pulse through cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Firefighters rushed her to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, where she remained Friday night.

Earlier on Friday, there was a similar scene in Pembroke Pines. Brittney Lumas, 27, told police officers that she lost track of her 3-year-old daughter briefly during a party.

Others found the girl floating face down in the pool at the Arium rental apartment community. Pembroke Pines Police Department Sgt. Keith Forseth administered CPR. The girl survived and was recovering at Memorial Hospital Pembroke.
