One person died and six others were injured Sunday in a crash in Miami.
The two-car crash took place about 2 p.m. at Southwest 17th Street and Southwest 25th Avenue.
A Volkswagen Jetta and a black BMW collided at the intersection and were sent skidding into a front yard, police said. The driver of the Jetta died at the scene of the crash.
Miami Department of Fire-Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said two women and four men, who range in age from 25 to 35, were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
"They hit the fence," witness Sonny Santiago said. "They destroyed the whole fence."
Several neighbors in the area attempted to help the victims.
"It was really scary," Suarez said.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
One man told Local 10 News that it's not uncommon for people to speed in the area. This is the second crash to happen in front of the home, he said.
The intersection was shut down after the crash.
