WASHINGTON – Former Arizona state Senator Carlyle Begay (Navajo) sang a prayer the President Donald Trump’s inauguration prayer service held the Washington National Cathedral last Saturday.
Begay, who is working in the Trump White House, was asked to give a Navajo blessing.
He sang the word “hozho” over and over. The word defines the essence of Navajo or Diné philosophy. It encompasses beauty, order, and harmony, and expresses the idea of striving for balance.
