WINDOW ROCK – Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye And Vice-President Jonathan Nez offer the following New Year message to the Navajo Nation:
“As we ring in the New Year, we would like to send a Happy New Year greetings to all the people of the Navajo Nation.
We encourage you to strengthen your family ties and communities in the new year. We challenge you to make 2017 a year of helping your neighbor. Visit with your grandparents, mentor someone, love others, help others, and spread joy wherever your travels take you.
The year of 2016 was one of progress for the Executive Branch. We have created a lot of tangible changes but we still have a lot to accomplish. We would humbly appreciate each and every one of your prayers and positive thoughts for our administration.
In the coming year, we will be working to complete critical infrastructure projects in Navajo Nation. Never in the history of the Navajo Nation will this many projects be completed. Powerlines and water lines will be made accessible for those in the rural areas of the Nation. We also expect to improve our roads within the nation or replace dirt roads with pavement.
These projects will enhance the lives of many youth and elders as well as, many of our People. When critical infrastructure projects are completed it will also benefit economic development which in turn will create more jobs for the nation.
We have two more years left in our administration. We look forward to accomplishing that which is before us with the foundation of the four pillars in mind. As we welcome the new year, we challenge all of you to operate from a mindset of prosperity, kindness, and generosity. Happy New Year from the Office of the President and Vice-President. God Bless the Navajo Nation.”
