STANDING ROCK INDIAN RESERVATION — The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe issued a disaster declaration due to a winter storm brought blizzard conditions on December 25 and 26, 2016.

The disaster declaration indicated that there is an “emergency threat to life, property and natural resources.”

The severe winter storm caused massive disruptions of the normal flow of emergency, business and other vital transportation.

With the disaster declaration, the tribe is requesting federal and state agencies to use all available resources to assist the tribe.

The storm caused significant icing to power lines and its high winds caused power outages across the reservation.
