US Committee on Indian Affairs to Hold Business Meeting & Legislative Hearing

WASHINGTON— On Wednesday, June 29 at 2:15 PM EDT, the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs will hold a business meeting to consider S. 2842, a bill to amend and reform the Johnson-O’Malley Act to award contracts to certain tribal organizations, Indian corporations, school districts, states, and consortia of tribal organizations, and for other purposes.

The business meeting will be immediately followed by a committee legislative hearing to receive testimony on the following bills:

·        S. 2796, the Repealing Existing Substandard Provisions Encouraging Conciliation with Tribes Act (RESPECT Act);

·       S. 2959, a bill to amend the White Mountain Apache Tribe Water Rights Quantification Act of 2010 to clarify the use of amounts in the WMAT Settlement Fund; and

·       S. 3013, Salish and Kootenai Water Rights Settlement Act of 2016.
