MESA, ARIZONA – Carlyle Begay (Navajo) has dropped out of the Congressional Republican in Arizona’s First Congressional District. The Democrat turned Republican dropped out due to lack of fundraising according to sources close to his campaign..
The First Congressional District covers the Navajo Indian Reservation in northeastern Arizona.
Begay currently is an Arizona state senator, who switched political party’s while a member of the Arizona senate because he felt the party fits better his belief system.
Begay’s departure from the Congressional race follows his wife’s disqualification to run for his senate seat because she did not turn in the required signatures to land on the ballot for the Republican state senate race.
