PINE RIDGE INDIAN RESERVATION– Alcohol sales on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation will remain illegal for the forseeable future. This comes after the Oglala Sioux Tribe’s tribal council voted on Monday by a 9-4 vote to cancel a referendum vote that was scheduled for today.
The vote was called off after about 30 protesters showed up outside of the tribal government building on horesback. The protesters were able to persuade the nine tribal councilors to cancel today’s vote.
