WASHINGTON– Reacting to the comments Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s “off the reservation” comments she made Friday on CNN, the Clinton campaign’s National Political DirectorAmanda Renteria tweeted yesterday:

“Hillary Clinton meant no disrespect to Native Americans. She wants this election to be about lifting people up, not tearing them down.”

An additional tweet says: “About the use of an expression today that has some very offensive roots…Divisive language has no place in our politics.”

Clinton’s “off the reservation” comment came in response to Jake Tapper’s question on CNN’s “The Lead” relating to Donald Trump’s name calling and other derogatory comments he has made during the primairies.

“I have a lot of experience dealing with men who sometimes get off the reservation in the way they behave and how they speak.”
On Tuesday night during his victory speech, Trump told a national audience that Clinton would only garner five percent of the vote if she were a man and that she has been playing the woman’s card.
