Earth Day celebration offered at Chickasaw Cultural Center, April 22

SULPHUR, OKLAHOMA – The Chickasaw Nation plans a full day of film showings, gardening tours, hands-on cultural craft classes and special meals to celebrate Earth Day Friday, April 22, at the Chickasaw Cultural Center.

Earth Day is a worldwide annual event initiated in 1970 to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment.

All events will be open to the public at no charge and everyone is invited to enjoy Earth Day surrounded by nature on the Chickasaw Cultural Center’s campus, 867 Cooper Memorial Dr., Sulphur.

Movies will be shown in the Anoli’ Theater, including “Facing the Storm: Story of the American Bison” at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and “Disneynature Earth” at noon and 3 p.m.

Garden tours around the Chickasaw Cultural Center campus will begin at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.

Instructors will work with attendees during make and take classes from noon to 4 p.m. to build peanut butter bird feeders and other natural knick knacks.
