SANTA ANA PUEBLO, NEW MEXICO – Professional golfer and former PGA TOUR player Notah Begay III will join AMERIND Risk in the insurance company’s 12th Annual Protecting Tribal Families Golf Fundraiser on April 28 to benefit uninsured families and organizations aiding children.
Those playing in the fundraiser will support several good causes. AMERIND hosts the fundraising tournament to support the Protecting Tribal Families Fund to help uninsured tribal homeowners rebuild or repair after a fire, flood or other catastrophic event. The tournament has raised more than $100,000 since its inception in 2004.
Additionally, proceeds also will benefit the Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation and the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA). Begay created the foundation in 2005 to reduce Native American childhood obesity and Type 2 diabetes. NICWA was created in 1983 to address child abuse and neglect through training, research, public policy and grassroots community development. The membership organization also advocates for compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act.
The event will include a 4-person scramble, contests, lunch and an awards reception following the tournament at the AMERIND office adjacent to the Santa Ana Golf Club. Prizes include a chance to win $10,000 for a hole-in-one and $2,500 in a putting contest. Other prizes and raffle items include golf packages at area resort/casinos and gift cards.
